It is quite a while now since Brenna Welsh contacted us, telling us the story of her grandfather Joe Welsh, who worked as a DJ for BDN KOFA in Linz.
She also told us about her “Oma” (“…a local girl from Linz who was working for an army outfit switchboard…”) who married Joeseph and moved to Philadelphia with him. She kept the legacy of Joe and his work with BDN in her house and handed it over to Brenna.
Gratefully Brenna recently contacted us again and provided some more fotographs and stories about the time her grandfather (“Opa”) was stationed in Linz and hosted a show at KOFA.

This allowed us to beef up the image gallery of our KOFA article with very interesting insights into “KOFA Ville”. Come on in and have a look – we are sure you will this as interesting as we do!
Moreover Brenna has also sent us a letter she found amongst all the papers and photographs. Written by “Roger Raynal” who was working with Joe Welsh at that time. Very interesting to read and for sure worth a special feature.
So, stay tuned to learn more about what Roger wrote and how the lives of former BDN staff evolved after they left BDN.
